MONTHLY CLEAN-UP EXERCISE FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER  2026.

The Wa Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit, Zoomlion Ghana Limited and other stakeholders embarked on a series of clean-up exercises for the month of September 2026 as part of efforts to improve sanitation and prevent flooding.

The exercises were conducted on the 5th September 2026 across selected areas including the Wa Central Market, Dondoli, Kambali and the SSNIT enclave. Activities undertaken included desilting of gutters, sweeping of streets, collection and disposal of refuse. The exercise witnessed active participation from Assembly Staff, City Cleaners, City Guards, and personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service. Ghana Immigration, Police and The Army.

The Municipal Chief Executive and the Municipal Coordinating Director also took part in the exercise to encourage public involvement. The Environmental Health Unit provided tools and ensured supervision, and tricycles for the prompt evacuation of waste collected. Overall, the exercises were successful and have significantly improved the cleanliness of the municipality.

However, inadequate tools remain a challenge. It is recommended that the Assembly intensifies public education through radio and community information centers, and provides additional logistics to ensure more effective participation in subsequent clean-up exercises
