The Wa Municipal Assembly Organized its monthly clean-up exercise for the month of October, 2025, aligning with the national initiative launched by His Excellency the President of the republic of Ghana to observe the first Saturday of every month as National Sanitation Day.
The exercise saw significant community engagement, with Hon Assembly members, youth groups, women groups, market women, traders, residents, and other stakeholders including the security services, heads of department, institutions, the media, coming together to promote environmental cleanliness and public health.
The exercise covered all 21 electoral areas in Wa urban in the municipality and aimed to promote culture of cleanliness, community participation in keeping our surrounding clean and healthy as a cooperate responsibility in contributing to National development and Environmental Sustainability.
The MCD represented the MCE, who was on national duty to Accra and addressed participants on the National Sanitation Day Event. Conveying the MCE’s message highlighted on the theme for the exercise National Sanitation Day dubbed, “The Mayor’ Monthly clean-up Exercise (Operation Clean Your Frontage) and said it was a reflection of our commitment as a municipality to sustain this initiative, observing the first Saturday of every month as National Sanitation Day, to maintain a clean and healthy environment. He also advised to make cleaning their surroundings a daily habit, rather than just waiting for organized clean-up exercises. This he also added that a team of Judges will visit the electoral areas, and the cleanest area would be awarded a prize and there would be naming and shaming as well to redeem the past glory of Wa, the cleanest city and develop the habit of keeping our surroundings clean, taking responsibility for their communities, and actively contributing to national development. He also disclosed the MCE’s plans for weekly Zonal inspection to maintain cleanliness in the Municipality
He appreciated participants for their involvement in the clean-up and acknowledge for their dedication and spirit of patriotism to make the municipality clean.
