The Wa Zongo community gathered to celebrate their rich cultural heritage at the annual Inter-Cultural Festival. The event brought together diverse ethnicities and traditions, showcasing the community’s strength in unity and peaceful coexistence.
Wa Metropolitan Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Nurah Issah Danwana, represented the Upper West Regional Minister, Charles Lwanga Puozuing Esq ,Member of Parliament, Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, and President John Dramani Mahama, at the event. Danwana commended the Zongo community for their contributions to the municipality’s growth and development.

He highlighted the Assembly’s commitment to supporting Zongo communities, citing initiatives such as the Astroturf project, reduced Hajj fares for Muslims, Eid holidays for Muslims, and efforts to combat drug abuse and armed robbery. Ongoing projects include speed humps, water capacity expansion improving lighting in the metropolitan , and construction of roads,schools and CHPS compounds

Danwana urged youth to pursue education and entrepreneurship, emphasizing their role in shaping Wa’s future. He thanked traditional and religious leaders for maintaining peace and unity within the community.
The festival promotes cultural identity, educates the younger generation, and reaffirms the community’s commitment to unity and prosperity.
