Hon. Members, as you are in no doubt aware, the Assembly sets targets for the implementation of programmes and projects in its Annual Action Plans to address the development aspirations. I am enjoined therefore to make presentation on the progress of the implementation in the municipality.
Hon. Presiding Member, my presentation provides highlights of the Assembly’s initiatives, programs, and activities along with some central government policy decisions where progress have been in respect of service delivery. These areas include:
§ Administration of the Municipality;
§ Revenue and Expenditure;
§ Security in the Municipality;
§ Education in the Municipality;
§ Health Promotions and Activities in the Municipality;
§ Agriculture;
§ Community Development;
§ Sanitation and Waste Management in the Municipality;
§ Energy;
Hon. Alhaji Issah Nurah Danwanaa, Municipal Chief Executive for Wa Municipal Assembly move on further to elaborate on these areas highlighted.
In conclusion, in spite of all our problems and challenges, the municipality seems to have the greatest potential in the whole of the Upper West Region.
Revenue from Internally Generated Fund is relatively high even though we are now at the cusp of deploying systems and strategies to maximize revenue mobilization. The coming years is likely to usher the municipality into a new era of a vibrant municipality that attracts tourists and investors, thereby resulting social and economic dividends for the good people of Wa.
Hon. Presiding Member, challenges are always on our way but our ability to overcome these challenges will let the people feel the impact of our efforts. As we gather to deliberate on these issues that are targeted at meeting the needs of our people, let us be mindful of our desire to serve and not to be served. Let us discuss these issues dispassionately devoid of our individual interest as well as our political leaning.
Hon. Assembly members, as I thank you for your audience and influencing support, it is my hope that we can pull our efforts and energies together to serve our people more positively. It is my anticipation that, the issues raised will be discussed dispassionately and endorsed by you for the benefit of the people of the Municipality.
Thank you for your attention and may Allah bless us all.
